MARTA Bus Stations\Lanes- GA 400, North Fulton

North Fulton Community Improvement District formed a partnership with MARTA in hopes of creating GA Highway 400 bus service in dedicated lanes.

MARTA is planning for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on Georgia 400 connecting the existing MARTA rail service terminating at North Springs Station to the Windward Parkway Park and Ride to the north. The proposed BRT route would be located within the median-running State Route 400 Express Lanes being built by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). BRT stations are planned in separated guideways entirely within, or immediately adjacent to, the GA 400 corridor. Associated park and ride stations, pedestrian connections, and other BRT amenities will be in the immediate vicinity of the proposed station locations.

There are four (4) station locations identified north of the existing North Springs MARTA Rail Station.

The proposed station locations are:

  • Holcomb Bridge Road

  • Northpoint Mall

  • Old Milton Parkway

  • Windward Parkway

As proposed, it is expected that the BRT service would have frequencies similar to or better than current MARTA rail service. The BRT would maintain reliability through operations in the SR 400 Express Lanes and access to the stations would be bus-only. The conceptual station designs accommodate for safe pedestrian access, as well as convenient connections between connecting transit routes. The cost estimate for building the north Fulton BRT line is $360 million

Currently they are in the Concept Design Environmental Review phase of the project. The BRT expansion, if approved, would be installed during the Georgia Department of Transportation’s new express lane construction on the highway. GDOT hoped to open its Ga. Highway 400 express lanes sometime in 2027.
